The Cluster of Excellence "Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries" is an interdisciplinary research project at RWTH Aachen University. It pursues the long-term goal to increase the competitiveness of German manufacturing technology and is part of the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Research Foundation.
In close collaboration with the department of mechanical engineering I develop and/or evaluate systems that support workers on multiple levels to handle today’s rapidly changing production environments. I evaluate human information processing of complex data sets in supply chain management using business simulation games to develop smart decision support systems and game-based learning interventions. In another subproject I conceptualized a worker support system for manufacturing carbon fiber reinforced polymers and evaluated the tradeoff between speed and accuracy based on different feedback modalities.
